SUMMARY
Identifies purchasing options to reduce costs; plans, organizes, and controls an assigned product line from conceptual stages through product life cycles to optimize profits and sales potential while meeting marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for all aspects of product management department: budgeting; sales and gross profit objectives; work closely with sales management to identify training needs; and project management functions such as quarterly promotions, specialty catalogs, sample mailings, etc.
Support Equipment Sales in all geographic areas and all sales channels through promotions, advertising, and training and as a backup to the Product Trainer for product questions.
Identify sources for new and existing products. Obtain initial price structure prior to negotiation by purchasing staff. Initiate and review promotional campaigns with vendors.
Identify sources for Health-Tec brand products that maximize profits while providing a quality product at a fair market price.
Identify new products and revenue sources. Formulate strategies with sales and marketing for promotions and pricing. Maintain vendor relations with manufacturer's representatives.
Recommend product training needs and spiff/promotional opportunities with vendor representatives as well as scheduling and facilitating formal training sessions.
Expand breadth of product into mature customer base. Formulate sales and marketing strategies to assist sales in product penetration.
Provide technical information and identify product for sales staff and customer service.
Gather product information on an ongoing basis for addition or deletion in the annual catalog production. Proof copy and content on all pages within product responsibilities. Compare content, layout and design with competing catalogs for maximum ease of use.
Price products competitively but within profit margin objectives set by senior management.
Competitive analysis on all major competitors within product group responsibilities.
Organize and set-up systems and procedures to meet and maintain compliance with government regulations (OSHA, DOT, FDA, etc.). Provide MSDS information for all products.
Provide SDM reports and graphs for senior management on sales trends, gross profit, new products, sales by category/division, as well as an analysis on areas of opportunity and concern.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, legal documents or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and algebra. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
