Part-Time Janitor/Custodian

SUMMARY Keeps premises of office building in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Sweeps, mops, scrubs and vacuums hallways and office space.

Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, trim and hard surfaces.

Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, rest rooms, corridors and other work areas.

Cleans carpets, upholstered furniture and blinds.

Dusts furniture and equipment.

Washes walls and garbage receptacles as needed.

Washes windows, door panels and sills.

Empties wastebaskets and cigarette bins daily.

Transports trash and waste to disposal area.

Replenishes bathroom supplies.

Replace light bulbs.

Replaces air conditioner and furnace filters.

Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating and ventilating equipment.

Makes minor repairs on plumbing/electrical systems.

Repairs office furniture.

Repairs or adjust cubicle walls or desks.

Stocks copier paper.

Paint interior walls as needed.

Cleans refrigerators monthly.

Weekly plant maintenance.

All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or ttraining; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Some experience in repair work.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and climb or balance.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.  The specific vision requirements listed above are necessary to this position in order to pick and pack products, and also to drive the forklift in a manner as to avoid injury to themselves or others.

SCHEDULE
The schedule for this position is flexible with Monday through Friday hours. Hours will be 10 – 20 hours per week.
